What do you want here?

So far, I have been consolidating media reports and such that I can find from around the web into this blog.

What else do you want to do here? Do we want to use this as a sounding board for ideas for our plan to the Diocese? Want to post minutes from our meetings? In addition, I can add Google Ads down the right side of this blog to try to raise a little money. Click the Comments link below and let me know what you think. The more input and feedback we can get here, the better tool we can make this for everyone.

1. Far fetched but.....let's approach Tom Golisano & play up our Thinkquest program. He has supported Kearney with the laptops & RIT with the Golisano College for Computing, etc. He seems to have an interest in that area and education. Why not? No idea on how to get in touch with him. His foundation deals exclusively with grants for people with developmental disabilities.

2. Talk with the other schools who are approaching the diocese with plans & ask them if they are interested in presenting an alternative plan of giving us another year to increase enrollment and be at break even & still stay in the diocese. At the same time continue to work on our independent Catholic school plan.

I think we should contact the media--not the news channels, or even the D&C, but at least the Irondequoit Post. We are the only Catholic school in Irondequoit slated to close, so I'm sure they would be interested in hearing from us. It would increase exposure and may help us garner support from the community and the parish. We may get the help we need if people know we are looking for it. Who would make the decision to go public, Mr. Swenson? I would be happy to contact Gatehouse Media.

I also wrote down some marketing ideas to bring Tuesday night and just wondered if the RIT students will be attending. One of the most important things I think we can do is produce at least a prototype of a brochure and have it professionally printed. Also, we should draft marketing pieces that target specific audiences for a specific purpose, for example a fundraising letter for each group that we want to target (local merchants, alumni, parishioners) and at least one that targets parents for enrollment purposes. They should be printed on SMM letterhead and included with our proposal.

Tom Golisano's father was a parishoner of STMM and he grew up on either Dailey or Seville. He may help.
